    For me looking at these old catalog pages is an education, many pieces are no longer in use, and that makes it very useful to understand what you have found and what the purpose was.

    The other interesting aspect is the styles which changed over time, for example a smoking set may have been a tray with a series of lidded containers, but by late 1920s, the set is a series of open cylinder metal containers on a metal tray.

    Another collection of mine, the ads and article which illustrated the antiques of today.

      Thanks Watchsearcher, as I was doing the post I recognized what I thought was my jewelry vanity glass box with silver plated lid, but no, it was a round butter dish with lid on a silverplate tray. You never know.

      These old catalog pages are excellent, look at the detailed descriptions. If not for vintage catalogs & CD-ROM catalog downloads I could not positively identify many of my glass animals, so I'm a fan too
