Recently bought this brooch in Bulgaria. I've never seen anything like that. It has c-clasp and back is covered with glass. No marks, metal seems to be brass. Rhinestones don't have coating on the back side. It initially had three little
pendants at the bottom, now only one left. Could anyone suggest age and country for this brooch? Thanks in advance!

This a very nice brooch/pendant is typical for the time around the victorian era but I would narrow it down to from around 1880 and widen it to about 1910 (victorian is 1837-1901). I see pieces like this here in Sweden that were made here but I am sure they were made in Germany, France and England as well. They were often made of brass and sometimes "goldwashed" meaning they had a thin layer of gold ontop of the brass. Your is interesting with the stones that are not that common in these types of pieces. Most likely the stones are glass. The features with the stones makes me think that this is a crossover between old and new style for the time. It could well be that it was from the start made as a pendant with the posibility of being worn as a brooch, since the nedle and c-clasp is typical for the time. They often did that. Very practical. Behind the glass on the back they often keept the hair of a loved one - not always because someone had died like we sometimes think, but of someone they loved. Later it could also be a photo of someone. Very nice piece!
