I’m trying to find ANY information on my great grandmother’s cabinet that I inherited after she passed. I’ve scoured the internet for over 5 years but have not been able to find anything like it. I can’t find any markings or makers marks. It is in desperate need of repair but I want to make sure it gets the love and attention it deserves in the most accurate way possible. This may not be valuable to anyone other than me, but it was a staple growing up and I’ve always admired it.
Some facts about the piece:
1. I believe it’s oak with a veneer back.
2. It’s got a few places in the glass that are wavy with bubbles so I’m pretty sure the glass is original, or at least handmade.
3. The shelves have the plate/glass invention for plate display.
4. I can’t find any makers marks due to (what looks like) an old attempt by someone to stain.
5. The top above the shelves looks like it fell off at some point and someone attempted to reattach it by braces on the back.
6. The top design is an appliqué and not part of the oak. But I believe the appliqués are original to the piece.
7. The bottom front design does look and feel like it is actually carved into the oak (not an appliqué).
It’s about 14 1/2 in deep, 63 1/2 in tall (total from floor to top of swirl design), and 30 in long (at longest point)
Any help and information would be deeply appreciated. This is an adored family heirloom and belonged to the loved, respected, and late matriarch of our family.
