A friend of mine found it in the attic. 7 centimeters in diameter. In the middle, the ball spins freely. I came to the conclusion that in a bank the cashiers wiped their fingers with them to count the exact money, but I could not convince them, because I have never seen such a thing, I suppose as the most likely solution.

      Does it come apart?
      Is it all wood?
Is the inside lined with anything?
Will you add picture of bottom please?
Is the notch in the rim for removing the ball?

If it’s all wood, it doesn’t seem advisable to have it in water contact.
      Very interesting item.

Along your same line of thought Karl-Fodor, maybe a postage stamp or envelope flap moistener, as would be used in an office...??

Anythingobscure we seem to think alike. I was on the same train of thought assuming this has a water well below the ball. I think now days they have a sponge in them but years ago ones similar to this were by the window at the post office where you bought a stamp.

It also could be a muscle massager! I have one that looks like it, but is plastic! Does the ball come out? My modern one does not.
