"Hurricane" lamp recently discovered in moving family member. All I know is that it works. I am trying to figure out if it is collectable or if I even have the right pieces. Base is cast metal (brass?). Rim of "body" has a brass ring where the wick mechanism sits. The wick mechanism (there has got to be a name for this piece) is stamped "EAGLE". The base has the number "916" (or maybe I have it upside down and it is actually "916") imprinted in the bottom. The paintwork on the milk glass section may have been done by a family member after purchase. We have place settings of Haviland - Limoges that has been embellished this way.

Any ideas on manufacturer and age?
