Say hello to Nadya, Karolina and Vanya! These little Matryoshka dolls were spotted on today's visit to some local charity shops. I happen to love these little Russian dolls and always found them decorative and collectable and these were perfect! I assume they are just souvenirs brought back by someone on a trip to Russia and none of them have any makers marks anywhere on them so I think their just pieces for the tourist market?
The small blue one(Karolina) is one I had already owned and only in fact noticed today she appears to be missing her smallest little doll(or baby?!) The yellow and red doll(Vanya) is a good deal smaller and skinnier than the other fatter and squatter one Nadya(the bright blue doll!)
I'd love to know more about them and what wood they are typically made from? Is it beech?

I love your Russian dolls Lauren! I saw a set of three last year at an antiques show and passed them up. Wish I'd bought them now.
Oh no jscott0363,- what a pity for you, maybe you'll find some later on? I think you can never have one, they always need to have their sisters with them!
These are all very nice. There is a lot to learn about them, all you need to do is google Vintage Matryoshka Dolls and you will find quite a few good websites that will tell you all about them. Some of the prices are unbelievable. I probably have about 4 more sets of them, one is 12 to 14" tall with so many smaller ones that go all the way down to 1/4".
One I will always keep is the one that belongs to my mother, probably from her father, so it's pretty old and only has 3 dolls altogether but special to me. See them here:
