Hello everyone,
This doorstop depicts the cartoon character Bobby Blake, created by Grace Drayton in 1900. Grace Drayton was also the creator of the Campbell's Soup kids that we've all came to know and love throughout the years. Though it's difficult to make out in the photo, this one has the Grace Drayton signature (G G Drayton) across the base in script (pic #4). Hubley cataloged this one as #46. I believe this doorstop was made between 1920 and 1930. It still retains most of it's original paint. It measures 9 1/2" tall and 5 3/4" wide. There are a lot of reproductions of the Bobby Blake doorstop, but this one is a true original. I'm very happy to have this Bobby Blake doorstop in my collection. I also have the Dolly Dingle doorstop that was produced around the same period of time. I'll post her soon.
Thanks for stopping in for a look!!

Thanks so very much Mani!! Grace Drayton designed several doorstops for Hubley including Bobby Blake, Dolly Dingle, Little Red Riding Hood, Peter Rabbit and Fido. She also created the Campbell's Soup kids only a few years before she passed away. Those were made available in bookend form.
Thanks Gary!!
