A few years ago when I “discovered” glove rings, I went a little overboard and collected several of them to go along with some vintage gloves I have, and sometimes wear.
I actually use one of the glove rings occasionally and they work just like they are supposed to.
They are also handy to suspend a lady’s handkerchief just inside your purse so it’s handy. (I also like vintage hankies).
Another good use is to clip a pretty scarf to your purse handle.
I have 2 glove rings in their original boxes from Abon Mfg. Co. New York.
The boxes even have the patent number 2487339. I looked that up years ago and made a note to myself that the patent was issued in 1949 and that the glove rings were sold in the 1950s.
Women wore gloves frequently in the 1950; that went right along with wearing a hat or bandana over your head when you left the house.
I recall, as a little girl, having white crocheted/net gloves to wear to Sunday School and church, to funerals, or on special holidays.
We were certainly not casually dressed, ever!!
I could have used a glove ring back then to make keeping up with gloves at least a little interesting and stylish!

Well, I had no idea there was ever such a thing as a glove ring. I've learned something new. Very pretty!!!

Keramikos, Interesting info about the patent number not being found. I just checked the 2 original boxes I have to double check the numbers.
The number I listed is the number on the box which has the patent number most clearly printed, with the exception of the first digit: that digit looks like a 2 but try substituting a 9 for it and see if you come up with a patent, if you have time please.
My second box has the patent number but some digits are not clear.
I looked at the links you provided and noted that of the ones showing the patent numbers, the same digits in question on mine are also in question on those....blurry as if over-inked.
On one of the links, the box is exactly the same as mine except the patent number is absent.
That makes me wonder if the company stopped printing the patent number on the boxes because questions arose about it.
Ah.....the plot thickens! What occurred with the patent? Did Abon really have a patent?
If you can keep digging, please keep me posted!
My note to myself inside the box I keep these in says the patent was issued in 1949 - so that info came to me from somewhere or I would not have noted it.
I wish I could recall looking it up but years have passed, brain cells have passed....I’d say lol but too sobering of a thought!
I love it that the patent says it a “device for embracingly holding gloves” —that sounds so delicate and sweet!
