I found this cool painting yesterday at the thrift store. It had a note on it saying that this is painted between seven pieces of glass. The painting was layered to give it the 3D effect. I tried to get a pic showing the layering but was a little difficult. If you look closely in third pic, you might see. This piece is extremely heavy as it is made of 7 pieces of glass. Any id on age or other info, looks fairly old?

      Beautiful!
My mother learned this technique of painting on layers of glass. There was one special piece she made - it was dogwood blossoms with leaves and branch that she painted in the 1960s. But the technique is far older than that.

It takes a special talent to master this technique. I’m so glad you rescued it before it got broken!

Watchsearcher, thanks for the info! Glad you like, do you still have the one your mom painted?

Mrstyndall, I wish I did have it but upon her death, family and friends were invited to choose and take pieces of her artwork as a remembrance of her.
The layered glass painting was taken by someone else.
I’m ok with that since I have many other examples of her talent in my home. I just hope that person who has it takes care of it...

Watchsearcher, yes, that happens sometimes. At least you have other of her art work to cherish.
