These are a pair of oriental vases, handed down to us from our grandparents. They are pottery, cobalt blue, heavily hand painted and covered in gold! Both are marked on the bottom, and I would be grateful if anyone knows the mark? I’ve always assumed they are Japanese. I’m afraid one has a bad break on the rim (mended!) and the other a much smaller chip, but the work that has gone into them is amazing. Any help in how to look up similar examples would be great.

Japanese Satsuma blond clay pottery vases, they look early 20th century, do not know the mark. The style of the dark blue and gold with scenic reserves is traditional for that time. The heavy enamel applications is called moriage, you can google that word and find many more. Very nice to have a good quality pair. Thank you for posting.
