This school desk is the same type that I set at in the 1st grade thru the 5th grades. They were all fastened to 2 wood strips. About 6 or 7 in a row. No talking, no chewing gum , note passing....?. The books were typical of the time. .Dick and Jane no longer in my possession. The school bell was given to me by my 5th grade teacher at class reunion in 1975 I believe. . The ply ground was large and usually full of weeds. Sanitary conditions, 2 outhouses, a water trough with a pipe running the length of it with hold that squirted water for drinking .
Each room had a large round tall cast iron heater .
