    Traded for this German Sword last week, I really don't know much about it. The Sword does have a engraving on it " In Treue Fest" the u could be a the letter v.

      The sword is Bavarian. Various states in the German confederation had different types of swords. "In Treue Fest" is often found on Bavarian swords dating from the WWI period, and was also the motto on their belt buckles from that period.

      I did a little more research, and it seems to be a model 1855 Bavarian Artillery Officer's sword from about WWI.
