First on the menu comes this rather extraordinary pair of Victorian rainbow glass vases.
I would have been more than happy with one, but to have a pair is truly magical.
These spherical, waisted vases measure around 13 cm tall, 9.5 cm across the tightly crimped, cupped top rims, & 5.5 cm across the bases, which have polished out pontil marks.
The vases are made from a single layer of clear glass in swirling bands of pink, blue, & yellow.
Numerous makers created rainbow glass during the Victorian era, & all approached the style in different ways. This type, with the deep pink band being the widest, followed by a slightly narrower yellow one, & a thin blue one, is also seen on a small salt in may collection.
The vases were purchased from the UK, & this variation on the rainbow theme is most likely the product of an English maker.
Love rainbows
Totally agree, Marty - they're magical!
