This is a leather binder that an old man kept in remembrance of his mother who once owned it.
Her name is written in the binder, signed and dated "June 20, 1928 Sadye Garner Fahrenbruch Lincoln Nebraska"
"The 1928 Nebraska Cornhuskers football team was an American football team that represented the University of Nebraska in the Big Six Conference during the 1928 college football season. In its fourth and final season under head coach Ernest Bearg, the team compiled a 7–1–1 record (5–0 against conference opponents), won the Big Six championship, and outscored opponents by a total of 144 to 31. The team played its home games at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, Nebraska."
I love these old leather binders. I have one that I bought 40 years ago at a garage sale for $1. It looked quite rough, but I had hopes it would clean up. Some saddle soap and elbow grease, and then a little polish and it is gorgeous. A couple of years ago the zipper finally ripped out, but I hand sewed (not an easy task with thick leather) a replacement. It has the image of a big insurance company building on it. I have about 4000 lp's and keep a list of my records in it. I love that even common everyday items used to be so "luxurious".
