Is it a gliding back and forth rocker? Or is it still. As in it doesn't move?

      This is a spring rocker.

It rocks just like a rocking Chair.

Certainly not an antique. Perhaps late war years right up through the 1960's. Made of butternut wood, also called white walnut. A great deal of ash and butternut were used during and after the war because the government had contracts for all the oak so there was a very limited supply of oak

COOL Thanks! Sorry so late... Very Interesting... ButterNut Wood Never Heard of it. I received it in its Pinkish State so have not seen the wood. This chair moves just like a rocking chair... does not slide. When were the rockers used in chairs?
      Thanks For the Info.
