    Pencil-nec…
    (104 items)

Around 7 inches long, diameter 2 inches, Marked "P't app'd. fl" on the side and "Austria" on the closed end. Can't find any similars ~ anyone have any input as to dating or maker or usage? A Mexican tamale seems like an awkward shape for an Austrian liquor container to me.

Austrian Tamale Schnappes Flask, "P't app'd. fl" maybe "Patent applied for"
      Nice piece!

Either I'm blind as a bat or crazy :) but to me it looks like a sausage (wurst). My guess is some sort of souvenir that has something to do with alcohol (snaps) or wurst or both. This is not the same but this type of funny souvenir idea:

Thanks, BSage! 'Schnappes' was the key word.

Evidently, great minds think alike... from the only example found on google:

"One wouldn't expect an Austian to know what a Mexican tamale is, but here is a schnappes flask imitating one in porcelain!"

And Elizabethan... not a bad example. In fact, that may be the wurst example imaginable! <groan>

My first thought was a tamale. My second was one of those bagged 'gifts' we used to set fire on Halloween on Old Man Lilly's porch.

There seem to be a cinection to corn and whiskey if this is indeed austrian :)
