Well I found this in Missouri. It is very large. I thought this would be fun, it is, but NOT so easy lol. Can some tell me how old is it? Also I started stripping it, is that a normal color wood? Black? Any advice would be welcomed!

Early 1900's, trunk is a tin covered flat top, had leather straps at one time, paint stripping is a pain and messy, which is why I don't buy many painted trunks, just keep at it, takes time looking good so far.

So the whole thing is tin? I wAs thinking it was wood and tin. What's the best thing to use to clean that tin up and shine?

Getting the paint off the metal parts isn't that hard, getting it out of the wood slats is, when I have done painted trunks, I've used steel or brass bristle brushes to get it out of the wood and around the cracks between the wood and metal, I also use a hand drill with an abrasive nylon wheel, again its a very time consuming and messy process, I don't bother with painted trunks that have little curb appeal to me because of the time it takes, if its a high end trunk that has been painted, I use a soda blaster to remove paint.

Looks like the one I stripped paint off, check my posts if you want to see it.

Nice trunk but you picked a tough one to start with. Greendog is right, stripping paint sucks.
