Here is a vintage 2"W goldtone Ciner (1931 -) elephant brooch with faux ivory tusks, rhinestone ears & eyes. Paired with a 2 1-2"H x 4"W yellow glass elephant ashtray with front & back grooves to hold cigarettes, by Kanawha Glass ca 1970s. I thought these elephants were very in the wild looking with their large ears & unraised trunks.
To Kevin-kwqd who posted the first elephant shaped ashtray on CW, I hope one of us can find that elusive Viking Glass alligator ashtray someday!
These are wonderful and I think your right, they DO look very wild- especially the little brooch. It looks like he's spotted something he doesn't quiet like out in the Savannah and is gearing up for a charge. The glass elephant looks just like he's wandering thought the tall grasses undisturbed
I think the brooch is outstanding, and even puts the lass behind it.
I do love the lucky trunk up lass ele though.
Many thanks for the love all

Great imagery Lauren, the little one definitely looks like it's about to take off in a running stampede - there was a great 50s film called Elephant Walk with Elizabeth Taylor, she lived on a plantation in Africa right where the elephants would pass in a herd, they just thundered right thru the house! They are amazing animals but huge and heavier than some cars, definitely awe inspiring. Thank you for the super comment
Ken I'm really glad you liked this Ciner brooch, Ciner made a bunch of different elephant brooches but I was attracted to this one for its natural look, many thanks for the nice compliment
Thanks Eileen for the fabulous compliments you're so kind, glad you enjoyed, and yes both Viking and Kanawha made animal ashtrays - though I'm a non smoker, I thought this was a clever design with the front & back ports, and from the side view it just looks like a pretty glass elephant not ashtray. I was lucky to find this as they are pretty scarce online, I guess alot of them broke from use, Viking made a beautiful alligator tray (flat, with the outline of an alligator) but it is rarely seen and usually only on auction once in awhile
Karen thanks so much for the lovely praise, I do think the brooch has more personality & love its big flapping ears. Yes trunk up is certainly luckier and most all my elephants are up trunks, my grandma used to collect them and she was superstitious so it was ALWAYS trunks up for good luck lol :)
what does it mean when the trunk is down ...oh no ...lol love the post Jenni
Thanks Roycroft for the great comment and love, I was curious about the up vs. down trunk also so googled it, found mostly Asian feng shui lore about it - the trunk up is a sign of prosperity, the trunk down for couples trying to conceive a child (!)
Many thanks officialfuel for the thoughtful love, it's very kind of you and greatly appreciated
