I love seeing the beautiful Jewelry posted by other members of CW so I want to share a bit of mine. I hope you enjoy!
In 1993, I enjoyed a trip of a lifetime which included Egypt, a country I had long read about and only dreamed of seeing.
I couldn’t resist buying some necklaces as souvenirs. Only 2 have survived the test of time - they were bought at real shops in Cairo - this is one of them.
Those which were bought from the street vendors who pester tourists till you buy something deteriorated and discolored long ago.
I liked this necklace because it is not obviously Egyptian (no scarabs or mummies) and someone skilled in beading made it.
It’s made with black (or maybe that could be called charcoal grey) iridescent glass beads.
I cannot see what they are strung on.
The main decorative part measures 8.5” by about 3”.
The necklace has continuous beading making an opening of 26” diameter so it slips easily over my head. After I put it on, I use a necklace shortener to draw the necklace up to whatever length suits the neckline of the blouse I’m wearing.
I hope you enjoy seeing it!
I enjoy wearing it and it brings back wonderful memories!
