I collect pallet cores for a local pallet wholesaler. Most pallet cores are placed outside next to or near there garbage dumpster. Most of the time the lids to the dumpster are left open. There are a few places along my route that I will take a peak inside for valuables that has been discarded. I don't consider myself a dumpster diver but I have on occasion had to jump completely into a dumpster to retrieve treasure. Last week while collecting cores I happen to see a bunch of pictures in one of the dumpster. I went ahead and loaded the cores on my truck before investigating any further. I went back to take another look and inside was about 30 pictures. Some of the frames had been broken the majority of those were fine. Some where even very well made. On this night I had my ex girlfriend the love of my life riding along with me for company. I didn't have room to be loading up a bunch of discarded pictures. There was two on the top that caught my attention. I grabbed those then jumped in my truck and continued on my route. We got down the road and decided to investigate are finds. One was a water color painting of some Capitol building in Rome. It was in a glass display look to be as a museum-quality then the other was a old wooden frame with two pictures with a Confederate bill inside. I gave the water color painting to my love. It was more her style and the other one fit me very well since if falls right in with items I collect. I know quite a bit about US coins but not a whole lot on paper currency. I'm hoping to get any information on the pictures and the Confederate bill that I can. Thank you
The CS currency looks to be a modern reproduction piece.
The real treasure is in the two photographs. The group of veterans with the flag (looks to be a real photo postcard) and the veteran at the top have some value and are very collectible.
Be careful if you try and remove them-- not sure how they are affixed to the paper and you can cause substantial damage to them/ their value by trying to remove.

Be a bit on the cautious side about the note. Have it ck'd out.

I was wrong and should have looked closer. It is not a repro-- it is a FANTASY bill.
The CS never issued a note in that denomination.
Additionally, the linked note has the same serial #. The serial numbers of originals were hand written.
