I’ve never seen anything like this, there are metal fish and what looks like a pisces symbol and a 4??? The frame is a vintage convex frame and it has a old paper backing so it feels old. Any ideas because I don’t even known where to start:

Looks like a portal off a boat or ship.
Many people like to recycle them into frames .

Is it the astrological Pisces signs?
    4. Rustypearlvintage Rustypearlvintage, 5 years ago
I guess so but I don’t know what the 4 stands for
    5. Gillian, 5 years ago
These are koi fish, and most likely what appears to be a 4 is really a Japanese symbol. The same can be said for the soccer ball lookalike, (almost but not quite), on the other side of the fish.

"The koi is symbolic in Japanese culture and is closely associated with the country's national identity. The koi is a symbol of luck, prosperity, and good fortune in Japan." Wikipedia.

      What are the dimensions?

At the risk of being wrong, I’m going to give my best guess.
The “soccer ball” looking symbol just mentioned is a symbol for Pisces.
The number 4 is referring to the 4 Gospels of the Bible.

I like all of these ideas thank you! What does that symbol stand for in Japanese? Does the Bible talk about astrological signs?

Look up Pisces Biblical Astrological Interpretation—there’s lots written about it.
