Hello, I was hoping someone could tell me if this is Japanese or Chinese and to learn what it says on the front and the back of the platform. I can't really tell if it's brass or bronze either and it has a very slight attraction to a very strong magnet, but barely at all . It weighs around 3.5 ounces and seems to be very heavy for its size.
Wonderful ornate foo dog, love the ruby stone & pearl accents, an unusual lovely piece. No expert but the characters appear Chinese
Thank you! After some research I learned that this is a Pi Yao, or Pi Xiu statue used for protective feng shui energy.
