This was my grandmother's clutch.
It's one of a few things very sentimental to me that reminds me of her. She was as beautiful on the inside as she certainly was on the outside. It has a stamp from the designer inside but I'm 49 and my eyesight is starting to go.
Your grandmother is beautiful! Your grandfather is a handsome fellow!
It might help in the research to know the years of your grandmother’s adult life when she may have purchased the item.
Where did she live during those years? In the US?
Also, can you determine if it is leather?
Does the coin purse have any marking inside?
A “clutch” would have no handles. I think you should be researching “handbag with coin purse” from the potential years of purchase.
I hope you use the handbag on occasion in your grandmother’s honor.
And regarding that eyesight issue: Oh, how the years catch up with us! I was only 40 years old when I realized I couldn’t see the individual stitches I was trying to remove from a garment I was altering. I put on a friend’s reading glasses and was amazed by what all I could see!
Great vintage handbag and agree with Watchsearcher, your grandparents were a lovely couple :)
Can you post a closeup of the mark ?
That's about as close as I can get to the inside of the bag. Yes my grandparents lived here in the U.S. If she used this bag , it was before I was born. She developed MS and they didn't go out much. She spent her latter years in bed. They're both buried together and their burial stone says "Gone dancing" my idea.
