I'm very fond of this mirror, or more correctly the ornate frame. I know that it is made of white plaster as I found it languishing in a vintage shop, covered in tiny white speckles, where the gilding had been chipped off the plaster. It didn't look all that appealing........ However I had gilding crayons, in a range of shades, to do with my picture framing activities. So I bought it and in no time at all it was impossible to find the damage.
If anyone could give me a rough idea of age I'd be very pleased.
Diameter 45 cm./18 inches
I feel it might be a butler's mirror, hence the convex shape but as for the age I'm not sure....we have one dating from approx the 50s and is a lot less decorated than yours so I'm not sure about the dates of your one
LaurenRedmond, thank you. I too have only seen plainer designs. I'll follow up on butler's mirrors as that's new to me.
