I went to the charity shop today and spotted these two lovely items. the first being a tiny little kiwi bird necklace which I find quiet unusual and adorable in its way. It was obviously a souvenir brought back from New Zealand and is made out of a lovely bright blue Paua shell which I believe the Maori people use it a lot in their crafts. It's not marked silver or anything and cost €5 (£4.45/$5.47)
The second item spotted was a small little wooden globe- an item I've always wanted to own. This one happens to be styled like those ancient maps full of odd sea creatures and monsters on them and that's what I like so much about it! I especially like the odd long nosed swordfish looking creature pointing at Ireland (called 'Hybernia' here!) and also the man on a camel in the Sahara desert.
Cost €1(£0.89/$1.09)
Both are fantastic Lauren, I am in love with your paua kiwi bird, how adorable & a wonderful find! I love paua as you often find it in Hawaiian jewelry also, bought lovely starfish earrings there yrs ago on vacation also set in silver. Wonderful globe too, they give you a yearning to see the world & are great to own
Thanks Newfld- didn't know Hawaiians use Paua in their jewellery too- I think you should upload the starfish earrings here too :)
Great finds Lauren!! I love the kiwi .
