What a lovely item to own. It had a chain on it once, possibly so it could be added to a chatelaine chain, (difficult to say five times in a row), or with a shorter chain on a belt. Don't know the size, but I'm not so sure this would be worn around the neck.

Everything I've read so far - which is quite far - says German silver contains no silver content at all. ?I suppose then it's not even silver plated?

Oh okay thanks for your interest and information, yes it did have a chain attached at one time but i bought it as is without the chain but small links are still visible and attached, it is a unusual piece, I have not been able to find anyone like it
