This was in my great-grandfather's study in Detroit, Michigan in the late 1800s/early 1900s.

It was cleaned last year and runs fine.

I always thought it was pretty ugly, but I was told it was an Ansonia clock and might be worth something, even though a couple of the ceramic numerals are cracked.

What is this model, and is it really worth anything?

    Thanks!

This clock is pictured in Tran Duy Ly's "Ansonia Clocks and Watches" on page 216.
Ly refers to it simply as "Brass Antique or Silver Antique" circa 1886. He valued it most recently in 2004 at $250 for a clock in mint, original condition.

Here is an eBay auction for this model clock that recently ended. http://www.ebay.com/itm/190598053705?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649 As you can see, there were 9 bidders, 11 bids with a winning bid of $90.70. Tran Duy Ly's appraisals are high for the current market, but I've found that many auctions are won by dealers and as a very general rule they tend to drop out when they can no longer double their investment. It's only when you have two or more collectors vying for a clock in mint, original clock at auction that you might see the price getting anywhere near Ly's appraisals.
