Hello everyone!!
Here's another one of my still banks. This one depicts a Boxer dog and was made by A.C. Williams between 1912 and 1928. It's cast iron and still retains most of it's original paint. Unfortunately, a previous owner apparently stripped out the screw threads inside the bank. They drilled it out and replaced the screw and added a square nut on the end. But, I still like this one. It measures about 4 3/8" tall and 4 1/4" long.
Thank you all for stopping in for a look!!

jscott nice looking old bank. If it were mine I would take the square nut off then fill around the threads of the screw with a steel epoxy. Once that hardened I would cut the exposed screw off with my dremel tool. They also make a liquid lead you can use in place of epoxy and it will result in a normal threaded port. Then find some touch up paint or make some. I have even had good luck mixing different colors of fingernail polish to get the color I want. Right now I am carving a slab of soap stone as a grave marker that will have a good deal of fingernail polish to make the letters stand out before I seal it all. Small areas like you would have with this could be coated with clear fingernail polish to keep it from fading or peeling.
Very handsome boxer dog, he looks amazing for his age! Nice find Scott
Hi Thomas!!
Yes, I most certainly remember and I've always loved that one. Thanks friend!!
fhrjr2,
Thanks very much!! And thanks very much for the tips and info. I may just do that. Sounds like a winter project. He's stowed away in the back of one of my display cases. So, I'll have to dig him out.
Thanks Jenni!! I thought so as well. I only paid $10 for him, so I felt it was money well spent.
Only 10 bucks ,,, did you have a mask on ... should of got 2 ...smiling,,.. fhrjr had a good idea to fix it ...later bud cool find..
Thanks Gary! Yes, fhrjr2 does have some great suggestions here. Maybe when I find some time this winter.
Thanks Eileen!! There are many of these to be found toady on eBay and in thrift stores. But, most are in much worse condition than this one and way overpriced.
Thank you all very much for the loves, comments and for stopping by!!!
