Sunset and Trees Chandelier, Consolidated Lamp and Glass Co., Coraopolis, PA, ca 1910s-1920s

This is a beautiful chandelier that features a large central globe and four smaller hanging shades, painted with repeating tree (conifers) and vegetation motifs, and back-lit with a sunset or sunrise. We love it because we live in area surrounded with Douglas fir and Redwood trees, so it fits right in. A number of years ago we found a Consolidated Lamp and Glass Company catalog on the web that displayed a nearly identical version of the central globe and individual shades, so we believe it was made by the Pennsylvania firm in the early twentieth century. The metal work is painted and on the top of the rim supports what looks like four gas jets with valves, although these may have just been decorative (as lighting transitioned from gas to electric...gasolier to electrolier). The central tube from the top does eventually connect with each jet, via separate side tubes. One of the shades is a replacement, similar but not quite matching. All of the other shades are signed "411-409". The painting of the trees is obverse (on the outside) and looks like thick paint that may have been stenciled on the frosted glass. The central globe has a small wheel cut decoration on the bottom. Not quite sure this piece qualifies as a chandelier, the old lighting catalogues refer to these types of hanging lights as a "shower".
