Found this on the side of the road ( literally) I've never really been a huge fan of wing back chairs but the arms on this one caught my eye. I kinda assumed it was plastic mold-tah-dah-poof-it-looks-like-wood type chair----until I picked it up. HEAVY. Anyway, got it home and started 'surgery'--the fabric ( or tapestry I guess I should say) is original-as there are multiple threads individually tied to one of the 62 bajillion tacks in this thing. Its quite rotten tho---so it's not staying. There are no screws---no nails---just tacks---in at least 4 different sizes. The back springs need recoiling and the jute webbing needs replaced...but the cotton, straw and horse hair ( and there is a LOT of horse hair) are all in good shape. I can't find a makers mark. Ive no idea what kind of wood this is...I don't know if this is considered vintage or antique. I don't want to commit a 'no no' and paint it if it's worth the restore--but I don't want to spend three days washing horse hair if it isn't lol. Can anyone tell me anything about this particular kind of chair? Is it just me or is that arm thing kinda unique? TIA
