    Here is another group of fun paperweight brooches, early to mid 20th century.

    The first features a pretty butterfly; the second a lettuce leaf poppy, or similar flower; the third a bouquet of flowers (similar to the one shown by Courtenayantiques, see below link in comments); and the fourth includes cherries. This last one may have been a shoe buckle and it is marked, Made in Czechoslovakia, dating it to post-1918. All of them have C-clasps and appear to be backed by mother-of-pearl.

      Ms.CrystalShip, thanks so much for your comment! We are taking the term from Lillian Baker's 100 Years of Collectible Jewelry, pp. 83-84, where one of these brooches is described. Presumably because of their generally rounded glass shape (cabochon) and intaglio painted scenes, they are reminiscent of antique paperweights of similar design. We love them because each transports you to a different place!
