I am hoping that someone can tell me about my clocks... I have no information other than they were my grandparents from the 1800s.

There is lettering around the bottom of the dial on the 1st clock, but I can't read it in the pic..

The first one looks like it may be a Gilbert.
Could you separate these clocks into their own posting and share up to four photos for each clock?

The one on the left is a Gilbert. It is from their Capitol Set and is called the "No. 43". It's made from Oak and is from circa 1904. Your clock could have been manufactured several years before or after that date. Your heirloom has the optional Alarm Feature. It looks to be well cared for. Here's another example on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wrjw_hPQ09I

Your other clock reminds me of an Ingraham. It's a calendar clock but more well lit, sharply focused photos would be helpful. Front, Back and both Dials showing any print please. Thanks.

The clock on the right is a Seth Thomas Office #5. It is time, strike on a bell, and a perpetual calendar. On the back is usually a stencil 1" high in black paint. A letter and four digits. The letter is the month, the four numbers then read backwards is the year of manufacture. The gold paint on the front is not original.

Nice catch slackjack. It does appear to be a Parlor Calendar No. 5 from circa 1886. Perhaps the dials have been replaced or painted since Seth Thomas was never shy about proudly placing their name prominently on the dial.

Yes, Bruce, thank you. PARLOR not OFFICE ! Close, but no cigar for me.
    7. Bruce99 Bruce99, 5 years ago
You called it. It's a Seth Thomas slackjack. For some reason I was thinking Ingraham. That's a cigar for you in my book.

Did you have any more questions Clarkesbabe, or did we solve your Mysteries?
    9. Bruce99 Bruce99, 5 years ago
I guess the owner has gone on to other things. Thanks for your help slackjack.

Not so Bruce. There is another post about the Seth calendar clock.

There wasn't at the time I posted that comment slackjack. The fact remains that there is still no acknowledgement here of the help we've already provided. You can do as you wish of course. I'm not inclined to comment any further. Again, thanks for your help.

You all answered my questions... thank you so much. I now can at least know the make and model. Thank you so much for your feed back.
