This is one of the items from inside the Taylor trunk, posting can be found at http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/27249-c-a-taylor-trunk
It fits perfectly into the space on the far right inside the box inside the trunk. It's an inflatable rubber mat, I assume an early version of an air mattress? It has a hand pump. Has anyone seen one of these before?
hi found your trunk looking for info on one im starting to refinish and found this on the air mattress http://beacon.blogs.com/photos/broke_down_beacon/rubber3.html

Hello, I know this is years late but the air mattress is ww2. I have an issued one by the same company 1942 US AIR CORPS along with the soldiers name. Mine is slightly different in that it inflates without the use of a pump but has a bag attached that takes the air that accumulates in it and blows it into the mattress by rolling it. Yours looks like its in really nice condition.
The white material could be a cover for the mattress or also was used in a pinch as a body bag. It would be in the shape of a long bag.
