I'm posting it in relation to welzebub's post on Welz's cranberry glass. The basket is undoubtedly Welz's with its loop handle, snowflake rim, ribbed body and the colour which isn't obvious until we link it with a well known Welz's shape.I've added a cranberry jug for company but I'm still learning - I don't know if such jugs were among Welz's production .
They make a fine pair, even if only one is Welz so far. For me the jug is a 'Wait and See'. There is so much undiscovered Welz out there waiting to be found....and some of it will identify the 'Wait and Sees'.
In view of your last post it is very likely :)
Great basket.... and I agree completely. If we saw this basket before the Welz shape was so solidly identified, there would really be no clues to indicate the source of production.
As an example, Welz made a large amount of cut crystal and glass vases and even some lamps (I have seen an image of 3), even winning a Gold Medal in Brussels just post 1900, and yet I have never successfully identified a single piece of that type of production. There is no known record of the production, and identifying clear glass without some form of starting point, is beyond difficult.
Ivonne, Would it be OK with you if I added this basket to one of the image groups in my Cranberry glass post?
It would be a great pleasure for me,welzebub.
Thank You very much!!
Thanks for all the loves:)
