I'm not the slightest bit certain about what this little glass actually is/was, nor do I know anything about its maker/origin/age. It just appealed to me anyway when spotting it on the shelf at Goodwill the other day (if nothing else because it is RED?! <lol>) so for a buck or so it followed me home. ;-) I could imagine it was once part of a set (probably with a decanter or something?) because it just seems like that's what it should be...??
It measures about 3-1/2" at its widest, and its red color sorta seems to be some kind of 'applied' finish, (inside and out?) as its smaller solid base is actually clear glass. Its exterior surface is decorated with what turns out to be an ever-so-slightly engraved *spiral* pattern of fine lines roughly 1/16" apart, I didn't realize it was actually a spiral (vs. just concentric rings) until gently washing it and taking the pics for this showing, as matter of further fact. <headdesk>
Not gonna mark it as an 'unsolved mystery' because I'm not sure it is anything warranting that, but I'd otherwise absolutely welcome anybody's (of our many CW 'glass experts') comments if someone does really recognize something about it to give me any further clues?? :-) :-) :-)
THANKS vetraio50, fortapache, Newfld, Brunswick, & aura for the <love it>s for this little glass, no matter what it once might have been. One way or the other I still find myself wishing that there would have been 3 or 5 more of 'em with a matching decanter sitting there on the GW shelf...they'd look so cute all sitting together on a little silver tray or something...but oh well..., it is what it is... ;-) :-)
