The seal on the cover is the state seal of the state of Georgia. Doubtless a club for expats and likely short-lived given the lack of online info. A view of the title page or table of contents (if any) would have been of more help.

Google " John Mayer Brewing Co., New York". You'll find a New York Times obit for a David Mayer. It states that until his death he was one of 5 founding members of the "Georgia Society of New York". Then names of the remaining 4 living members are mentioned.

His obit indicates that he lived in Georgia as a cotton merchant. After the Civil War he moved to the North and formed the Brewing Co. I mentioned. He tells quite a bit more. I suspect as other writers have suggested, that they were Northerners who had moved from Georgia. His obit will suggest leads as to what familes might have an interest in your book. If you have access to the US Census you may be able to reseach descendents of these men.
