A new addition to my collection of St. Louis sodas. A 12 oz. Barq's that has a St. Louis mark on the bottom of the bottle. The bottle was made by the Obear-Nestor Glass Company in East St. Louis in 1948. Barq's was introduced to the St. Louis area in 1947 and was franchised by the Dr. Pepper Bottling Co. Franchised from Barq's Incorporated of Biloxi, Miss. Later on and I am not sure when Coca Cola Bottling Co of St. Louis would take over the local bottling of Barq's.

The Coca-Cola Company completed the acquisition of Barq's Inc. in 1995 and moved its headquarters to Atlanta. The rest is history. And, speaking of history, Barq's Root Beer has quite an extensive one dating back to 1898
Barq's is an American soft drink. Its brand of root beer is notable for having caffeine. Barq's, created by Edward Barq and bottled since the beginning of the 20th century, is owned by the Barq family but bottled by the Coca-Cola Company. It was known as Barq's Famous Olde Tyme Root Beer until 2012

I had a parrot that would only drink Barq's or orange Gatorade. You could set out three or four shot glasses with coke, pepsi, etc that looked the same and he wouldn't touch anything but the Barq's. After every drink he would stretch his neck and let it slide down then say; Ahhh that's good.
