Can anyone tell me the approximate year of this thing of beauty ?. It's at a silent auction. I was highest bid at $55.00.
But I'm sure it'll go up. How high should I go ? I'm thinking $100.00 to make it worthwhile. Thank you. Love it here

Welcome to CW! :-) We actually have one or two 'old fan experts' around here (though not myself by any means) so hopefully someone else will speak up. If I had to (only!) guess, I'd think it is probably 1950's-ish +/- a decade or so...also seems interesting that it is of Canadian manufacture, that might help you research the company that made it...?

Just by looking at it I am going with 1955-1959. A model # would help but I doubt if the answer is different. That cage design is what was in around that time. Now I will do a bit of research. Didn't come up with anything but someone saying a similar RM fan was 1950s. I would just take my word for it. Fans have styles just like cars. Robbins & Myers was one of the Big 4 fan manufacturers. Made high quality fans.

These old fans just keep going, as long as you keep them clean & lubed. Went into a store here and asked how much were their $22 fans. Woman said, "Ours are $25". "I'll take one". We both got a laugh.
