Here's two of the small silk hankies i found. Last year, the Goodwill near me converted to a bin-style sales floor and right after the transition, they were emptying out some really old and interesting containers of fabrics, textiles and clothes. There were around 150-200 people in there all the time and it was crazy. I'd go in every afternoon for as long as i could take it [about 20 min] and leave with a big bag of textiles to carry 10 blocks home to my house. I just packed them all into my old suitcases and forgot about most of them. Tonight, i went through them and took photos of just a few of them. There are SO MANY and some very interesting ones too.
Nice find! I love silk. I brought back a dozen or so large silk scarves from Thailand years ago. No idea whatever happened to them. They were brilliantly colored, cheap and took up no space so I bought a bunch. My ex probably got them.
thanks kwqd! one of these is a really gorgeous piece of thai silk. i'll post in a little while. i brought back lots of interesting and old fabric from thailand back in the mid-80s.
I love silk too, and have many silk garments and accesssories vintage 20th Japan as well as other pieces.
Nice examples Pete.
thank you keramikos, truth and valentino!
Love them! My daughter has gotten into the classic car thing and is restoring them and dressing the part. Needless to say she inherited my silk scarves early. I now know they will have new life and be seen and loved by so many again. I have to say she make Hermes look awesome!
