This the Hubley Stake Truck set #503 cataloged in 1950. It's not in great shape, but actually this one of the better examples I've seen. It's a tough one to find period, it was only offered in 1950. I've never seen a boxed example, just loose with a lot of paint missing. The flatbed #500 was catalogued in 48-49 in red with stake sides and logs as the Tractor Trailer Truck and advertised as The 3-1(stake side, log truck, flatbed). In 50 they cataloged the #502 with logs in red and the #503 with stake sides in orange. This completes the tractor trailer sets with the 48 GMC COE cab. They're pictured in the last photo L-R; #505, #503, #502, #501, #500. Maybe eventually I can find one in a better condition, but I just don't believe they exist.
Thanks for looking in,
Bill.
Super addition to your tractor trailer fleet, in the last photo they look real & ready to hit the road!
Thanks Newfld. That's a big 10-4, looks like we've got a convoy."
It looks great just as it is.
Nice collection ....Toyrebel.
Thanks Apache, it's a rare bird and I'm happy just to have it.
Thank you very much, Bucket.
Great addition Toyrebel!! The grouping, in pic #4, looks GREAT!!
Thank you kindly Jscott, I like fleet photos.
I thought the same thing Thomas. Hubley had several red and orange versions of vehicles. It's almost like they were Iron Bowl fans. I've got a spare cab/log trailer that I want to paint in crimson/white with some Bama decals. I found a pretty good crimson match, but it's not gloss. I'd like to have some Alabama and Auburn big rigs to display.
