A pair of Election Day reminders for those politically inclined :) The 2" donkey brooch with large red ears & aqua eye has a goldtone setting, early Coro piece from the 1940s, patent number 142,183. The 2 1-4" performing elephant brooch holds a faux pearl ball in his trunk, with multi color rhinestones on goldtone, by Danecraft ca 1960s

These are so cool- both really have a carnival or even slightly Mardi Gras theme to them I think?! Especially the elephant, I love his little embellished pearl and rhinestones but the donkey is cool too- you don't see many brooches of donkeys about!
Cute pair! I think my favorite is the donkey brooch. Lauren is right, you don’t see many donkey brooches around anymore.

Thanks Ken for the great compliment, I saw the Coro first but then thought about Election Day & wanted to put it next to a size appropriate elephant & saw the cute Danecraft fella
Eileen thank you so much for the wonderful compliments, fell in love with the Coro donkey with his red & aqua rhinestones (they used that coloring often in the 30s and 40s with their horses, duettes etc), then got the elephant & was surprised it wasn't sterling as most Danecraft pieces were. Yep I'm a holiday person so why not Election Day, even tho this is not a major one & I usually abstain myself, hate being on the call list for jury duty

Yes Lauren these two do look rather festive and seem to be prancing about as if in a carnival or circus! I get excited to hear Mardi Gras as that's one of my fave times of year, the Carnaval floats of Brazil are so gorgeous around Lent time & often feature animals. Thank you for the super praise
MrsT thank you so much for the sweet compliments and you & Lauren are right, very few vintage donkeys around (unless you count the political pins, lots of those), my fave here is also the classic Coro which was a very lucky find as some of their oldies are priced way out of my league
