Pictured here is a vintage FLORSHEIN SHOE rug from probably the 1960's. I stopped by a local yard sale to look for "needed treasures" & happened to notice this rug had been tossed in the bottom of a dumpster. The people from the yard sale said their Mother had worked in a local store during the late 1950's through the 1960's. They thought nobody would have interest in this rug & tossed it into a dumpster that had been delivered to the estate. They thought I was crazy to dig this rug from the dumpster. It has been swept & is now displayed in my collectibles room.
Great advertising piece ! They were a high quality shoe . I worked across the street from one years and years ago at a Kinney's . The poor shopped at Kinney's shoe store and the elite shopped at Florsheim :-) Actually the teenagers shopped at Kinney's for go go boots :-) and older people shopped at Florsheim for more conservative shoes
Thanks Manikin...I hate to see advertising items just tossed away.
Well done! Nice save! I can't tell you how many nice collectible items I have pulled out of someone else's trash. Hard to believe what gets thrown away!
Thanks kwqd. Some people have no appreciation for collectibles.
