Five years ago I posted an Amish made horseradish chopper. Last week, I acquired another item that I was told was a horse radish chopper/grinder. After looking over this new chopper, I believe that the chopper that I listed five years ago, not to be a horseradish chopper. I believe that is was made by the Amish, but, is was more likely a meat chopper or perhaps a tobacco chopper as many Amish farmers grow tobacco for the cigar industry.
Anyway, this horseradish chopper that is posted here is in excellent condition. The grinder was manufactured by the Mintzer & Kreisler Company, Phila. PA in 1890. It has hundreds of sharp pins on a drum to grind the horseradish to a pulp and deposit it in a drawer under the drum.
Powered by a hand crank or a pully belt on the other side of the tool.
I intend to run the tool by a belt drive powered by my 1/2 H.P. Sipp steam engine at the "Cabin Fever Model Show" in Lebanon, PA this January.
Great condition and the craftsmanship is incredible!
Ah, horseradish. I finally has arrived on the shelves here in SXM. Missed it.
