    This is a very nice piece of laquer from Japan - probably 1940s. I can't tell what the tree/plant is on the top. can you? looks like a coconut or who knows?

      The lid is really gorgeous, could be a lychee nut, coconut is a good one too

      i should get a better photo. up close, you can see that it is truly laquerware and layered. not sure the terminology.
