Are you an art glass collector? I would appreciate your pointing me in the right direction on this basket. I inherited it from my mother. I always thought it was Italian. Am I correct in thinking that? Don't know where to start my research on it. She owned it for as long as I can remember but am unsure of the age - mid 20th century? Basket is about 10" tall and 2 and 3/4 " in diameter on the base.
Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge.
Now this is a basket I'd snap up, if I ever saw one. Gorgeous décor. and not easy to find where I live.
I believe it to be Bohemian or Czech.......
Hi sklo42, Thanks so much for your opinion. Czech? So happy to hear that. I love art glass but am just starting to learn about it. My mother collected mostly porcelain, but also glass, too.
Hi! I collect this glass. I've heard it's Ruckl, and I've heard it's by Erwin Pfohl. Definitely Czech and not Italian. I have some of this glass posted. To me, it looks like there are many makers, because you can see about 4 different styles or time periods(makers). At least. Anyway, it's gorgeous stuff-I love it! Erica
Hi Eza. I agree with a few makers, and if the shape matches a decor that is documented such as Erwin P. 1930 for Josephine Glass Co. then that is probably the maker as you say.
I also found some Ruckl shapes, and I think this basket might be by Kralik. There is one in the Truitt Volume II with a Kralik decor in my opinion, see page page 60, item number 1. basket in blue spatter with a red base spatter.
a new post to illustrate, image 1, first item.
