This is a complete collection from the archaic and woodland culture all were found near the native american settlement in bethania nc these finds are the few of there out door survival consists of the nut cracker and the cup stone there all complete the hammerstone is the round stone used to busting the nut open if you have the nut on the side it makes it much easier to crack open black walnuts were much difficul the outer soft core had to be cut to remove the nut the black walnut was much messier the black would be on the hands it would wash off in the water the black walnut these nutting stones were always found near creeks ,rivers, lakes, and streams, old ravivines, this was found in muddy creek ana laurel , The cup stones had many uses medicines grinding the herbs and scraping the bottom and edges the pendant pestil was very used for this purpose most i found were pestils ranging from many sizes the bowls were modtly pottery they have not survived due to the shards i found many pots were for many tnings pestils always survived having this collection makes me feel like i am connected to the peoples of long ago and having my studies here makes me feel i am a part of the lost peoples of long ago
The pestil is a pendant the black walnut is a fossil petrified i thought putting the walnut in would give you the purpose in how the nut cracker was used the heavy round hammerstone would had been used to crack open the nut
