Here I was, only a few days ago all in a lather about vetraio50's rainbow rose bowl...& what do I happen upon in a small shop in Mount Victoria, but a disarming & subtly unusual rose bowl!
It measures around 9 cm tall, 10 cm wide, & 5.5 across the base. Made from three layers of cased glass - clear over a spatter of pale blue, yellow, & oxblood red, which is overlaid with swirling stripes of silver spangles, & a white interior, the rose bowl has a slightly rough, snapped pontil mark, & a crimped incurved top rim.
I particularly enjoy the way in which the spatter is at odds with the silver stripes - it creates a wonderful effect that suggests motion. Rather like two layers of high cirrus clouds floating across each other, or perhaps clouds drifting across the surface of a planet.
Perhaps Bohemian? The spatter/striped spangle decor is a new one on me...
Sparks fly !!!
What a beauty !,!,!,!
Many thanks, vetraio50! Thought you'd enjoy it...
I think you've said it all.....but it's certainly dazzling in a very subtle way.
