As a bird lover and former owner of three beloved parakeets, these pieces are very dear to my heart.
The sleepy 5"W amberina glass parakeet is a very rare recent find, one of the last window glass animals made by Kanawha Glass in 1980-1981 (#28 in their catalog for those years) before they closed down.
The ceramic parakeet pieces are by Fitz & Floyd from their Bird with Bamboo collection of 1983. All items in pics #1 and #2 are new to me and recent finds, I included the previously posted F&F trinket box in pics #3 and #4. The ceramic parakeets are all lifesize at 6", the bamboo candlesticks are 7 1-2"H and the angular dish 9"W.
These are all nice. You better keep them away from the feline brooch.
What a great bird display! We used to have some canaries!
They're all lovely! The blue ones in particular have a really nice sculpt which make them look very realistic looking and I love the one that seems to be readjusting his wings?! They seem like such interesting and charming little pets as a whole and these statues do them justice!
I am a parrot lover Jenni, and am fortunate that many wild ones live around me and I see them daily. No budgerigars however, they are an inland bird. Your ceramic birds are just gorgeous, and the little Kanawha a beauty. What a group!
I was interested to see the F&F were from Korea!
Nice presentation. Love it for sure .
Very grateful for the love all

Thanks Ken for the fab compliments, the Fitz and Floyd were a surprise find on 'ebby' where I would occasionally browse for that line, my faves are the birds on the bamboo candleholders as they are perched high up like real parakeets who love high places (they feel safer)
MrsT thank you for the lovely compliment, I am sure you loved your canaries, small birds are very endearing - my stepdaughter has finches. Canaries are such colorful and happy birds esp if they have song, though I know not all can sing (as with parakeets, not all can talk)
Thank you Eileen for the fantastic compliments, yes the blue of the Fitz and Floyd birds is quite realistic, I think their birds compare quite well with some fancier figurines such as Bing and Grondahl. My little amber glass bird is a favorite for its rarity as no other vintage WV glassmaker made a parakeet so that is a treasure to me, the pose could well be eating its seed, as mostly when you look at parakeets sleeping they are standing up
Yes Lauren parakeets are very interesting pets, like all birds they are curious and some can talk and are great mimics, I used to try to encourage our first bird to drink his water when he had a cold which had a fruit flavored antibiotic, I would say "it's good for you", and don't you know he picked that up and loved saying that phrase! And I too love the bird with his wings open, he appears to be stretching, the designer had to observe the real birds as they have very realistic expressions. Great compliments thank you so much!
Karen thank you for the terrific compliments and I love all your bird items and photos, I know you see beautiful species regularly in Australia and that sounds like a bird lovers paradise - we get some imported ITV shows here, and on one episode of Dr Blake Mysteries there was a small tree full of cockatoos, delightful! Yes Fitz and Floyd began their business in Texas USA, but one partner died and in later years they were made in Asian countries incl Korea and Indonesia
Thank you Purvis for the super compliments, I thought the ceramic and glass birds might be too much to take in on one post, but figured oh hey, these are my parakeets and they belong together, and I'm so glad you liked the display
Lol Mary, I'm so glad you enjoyed this, in the bird world don't you think parakeets are underrated, many see them just as children's pets but if you own them they are so endearing right. Hope you will find some of these pieces, they occasionally pop up online but I have the best luck googling them, then if available it sends you to the selling site. Appreciate the wonderful praise, thanks so much my friend, "birds rule" lol
Thanks Penny for the thoughtful love. I am so glad you enjoyed my parakeets
very nice keets!
cutie birdies!
Thanks jb for the fun comment, I am sorry I blew by you in my responses sometimes I miss somebody. I promise to keep the tiger clear across the room lol!
Thank you ho2 and KinkiPlz for the super compliments and love, I am really glad you enjoyed my keet display here, they're my next best thing to owning the real ones (loved them, but a lot of work to take care of & very delicate to keep healthy)
Many thanks guys for the parakeet love
