    I have a Langmuir Trunk.. but I have no information.. it’s leather and wood...and what I think Is material lining the inside. Leather handles..very old and heavy. That’s all I know! Would love to have this dated.

      Hi TaraLJ, Judging by the lock, which is really cool, and the cast iron side dowels and latches with a brass name plate, and raw hide binding ...coupled with the fact that M. Langmuir was the largest trunk manufacturer in Canada and was in business from 1890 until 1960 one would be safe to say 1890's time frame I would think.
      I have a similar lock date 1871 but can't be used to set the age of this piece you may want to buff yours a little with 0000 steel wool and see what it reads as it should say something as well.

      your trunk is canvas covered with more than likely vulcanized fiber trim not leather, and I would place your trunk around 1890's to early 1900's. I have a Langmuir trunk that I posted on the C.W. about 3 years ago and it got the attention of Bill Langmuir according to Bill, his great grandfather started the co. in 1856 and it ran for 104 years until 1960, as Tom said it was the largest trunk Co. in Canada, Bills father also worked at the Co. along with over a thousand employees.
