This old pendant caught my attention because of the beautiful colours of the shell. It's too hard to capture the colours the way the are in real life. The setting is very intricate in the front but the back is rather simple and not very well finished. I am not sure what the metal is. It is for sure not sterling but it could be a very low grade silver.
About the age, I can only say that it is at least a vintage item, and about the origin of the piece I am in the dark. I have seen similar patterns before but I really cannot remember where.
Thanks for looking:)
Sorry for the late reply, Ms.Crystalship. I had a abalone cuff. I wore it a lot, too. I still have it, even though it's missing a piece. It's not worth fixing it but for sentimental reasons I cannot through it out. It was one of the very few pieces I managed to get out of East Germany (I wasn't permitted to take anything of value).
Eileen, I didn't know about about abalone. I just assumed that is was a cheap and plentiful natural animal product. How sad your story is. I will look with different eyes at anything containing abalone from now on.
BTW, sorry for the late answer. I don't get notifications anymore when anyone leaves a comment.
